Nõva Hostel is located in a two-story house built in 1902 as the Nõva Parish Hall. As part of the administrative reform, the house remained empty, and since May 2019, an accommodation facility has been opened here, offering a pleasant and homely stay. The hostel is located next to the RMK Nõva recreation area, where a kilometer-long walking trail through a berry and mushroom forest leads to the sea. Nõva captivates visitors with its beautiful singing sandy beach and untouched pine forest. An ideal place for berry picking, fishing, surfing and enjoying peace and quiet. Next to us is the lovely Nõva Break OÜ, or bread bakers. In the center of Nõva, a 15-minute walk away, is the Nõva Manor Café and shop.
History
In 1901, the municipal government sold the Sõeru farmstead, the old municipal house and the barn to Kaarel Jaanberg, from which 1,130 rubles were used to build a new municipal house. The building plot near the Treial farm was donated by the Nõva manor lady Josephine von Baggo.
The municipal house was built in 1902 by the municipal alderman Jaan Targama, who also made the building plan. The house was blessed on July 7, 1902, and its construction
cost a total of 1,530 rubles. The municipal house was built of logs, lined with boards on the outside. The original color was green.
The roof material was chipboard or shingles, which were replaced with zinc sheeting in 1920. The municipal house was green until the beginning of the 1960s. The next color was brown.
In 1996, 150,000 kroons were allocated from the State Investment Program funds for the reconstruction of the municipal house. With this money, the roof of the building was repaired and painted, the windows were replaced, a new wind house was built, and the building’s exterior facade was built. Since the renovation of the municipal building had already begun, it had to be continued in 1997. Another 300,000 kroons were received from the RIP funds. In order not to leave the work unfinished, the council decided to take out a loan and complete the work on the municipal building. In March, a 1 million kroon loan was taken out to complete the renovation of the municipal building and to start the construction of the fire station. The internal renovation of the municipal building began immediately. A hall and some office spaces were built on the attic floor. All the rooms on the ground floor were rebuilt. The cost of the municipal building is 1 million kroons, of which 450,000 kroons were state funds. The reopening of the municipal building took place on August 8, 1997.
The local government was located in the municipal building until December 31, 2018, when Nõva municipality merged into the large Lääne-Nigula municipality. Liis Veskimäe won the tender for the lease of the building, and Nõva Hostel opened in May 2019.
